Welcome to your anonymous residential rental transparency platform!
Thank you for being here.
Our mission is to bring legitimacy to the residential rental market by providing Australians with a convenient, anonymous platform of first-hand renter experiences—so prechecks can be conducted conveniently before signing a contract.
Too often, renters only have a rough five-minute glance and the suburb's reputation to decide if the property is suitable for a long-term commitment—quiet enough to sleep in, safe enough for children, appropriately managed, free from neighbouring noisy short-stay accommodations, unaffected by restricted telecommunications services, without early morning waste removal right outside the bedroom window—among so many other unknowns. It's a lot to figure out in just a few minutes, and renters know that probing too much during a viewing risks alienating the very managers who recommend tenants to owners.
Polished Turds understands that a fast turnover of tenants is encouraged more than ever, so it's rarely in the property manager's or owner's best interest to disclose issues upfront—property managers collect bond and pet cleaning fees but often skip the deep cleaning, a practice widely reported on social media.
A random-number username will be generated to avoid the possibility of any future blowback in the rental market. This number is only displayed on your profile and is the tag used in our back-end admin. Nowhere else will your RNU or your personal details be displayed.
Direct messaging between users is not a feature on Polished Turds, though you can leave comments and rate any of the content shared on the platform. We've designed it this way to foster a safe online space for our users. Please note: we actively monitor for BS—please use this app for good.
We're deeply grateful to all of you for sharing your unfair and undeserved experiences. Thank you so much for providing real information on the undisclosed issues of your previous rentals here in Oz.
Happy house hunting, everyone!
